Please note that other services, such as Peterson's, will have different rankings than those provided here and you should go to the library to do a more thorough search on schools that you are interested in attending. BSchool Rankings - From sports to education, Americans are captivated by rankings. Everyone wants their favorite team to be the best, and every parent wants their child to attend the best college or university. While sports teams can compete on the playing field to determine who is better on a given day, institutions of higher education have no commonly agreed upon measures to allow for the comparison of teaching and research programs. The overwhelming variety in size and purpose of institutions makes the prospect of comparing colleges a daunting one for students, parents, and the colleges themselves.

Graduate School Rankings !  - Graduate School Rankings becomes important for lots of graduate students. Typically a university with a good rank means lots of research grants which relates to the probability of getting financial aid along with working in cutting edge environment. Program Rankings and Interesting Links  - Social Work School Rankings of the Top 80 Schools (2000)--these rankings were obtained from U.S. News and World Report's Rankings, but you should be extremely cautious about how you interpret them. These rankings mean nothing at very close ranges (e.g., the 20th-ranked school may or may not be better than the 25th-ranked school), and besides, if you are only interested in a Masters (MSW) degree, employers usually won't care what program you got your degree from as long as the program was CSWE-accredited.

Reputational Ranking of Graduate Programs in Sociology  - The following ranking of graduate programs in Sociology is done by the National Research Council. It is based on the scholarly quality of the faculty and the effectiveness of the program in educating research scholars/scientists. The listing and a discussion of the method of research for this ranking appear in The Chronicle of Higher Education, September 22, 1995.

2003 Graduate School Rankings from US News and World Report - The American news magazine, US News and World Report, has published its annual special edition on U.S. Graduate School Rankings. The most recent Scout Report included a profile, which I have provided below. When you visit the site, you will find that some of the information is free, and other (usually, the most important) has a cost. Not surprisingly, the magazine would like people to purchase the publication, rather than reading the information for free. Makes some sense to me.

P.C. Rossin College of Engineering & Applied Science Moves Up in National Graduate School Rankings - Lehigh continues to rank among the top national research universities in the nation. U.S. News & World Report released its 2005 Best Graduate School rankings on April 2, 2004, and the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science ranked 37th, up from 41st.
