Teaching Assistantship Support Funding (2004-2005)  - Most incoming students receive full tuition (if applicable) and fees in addition to Salary/Stipend during their first year of study.

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA)  - Graduate Teaching Assistants are those graduate students who are involved in instruction, usually of undergraduates. Teaching conducted by GTAs constitutes a significant portion of the total instruction at MSU. Qualified GTAs perform instructional duties in an area of their particular expertise, most often within their home departments, although qualified GTAs may perform teaching duties outside their departments.

The Teaching Assistant Program  - Students who are fully admitted to the MA program are eligible for teaching assistantships. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis and are renewable for a total of two years. MA Teaching Assistants receive an annual stipend of $11,480 and a reduction in tuition to one-third of the in-state graduate tuition rate. Most teaching assistants teach two sections of English composition each semester.

The Teaching Assistantships - English 2800 gives senior English majors, with a GPA in the major of 3.5 or above, the opportunity to work as teaching assistants in introductory level courses under the supervision of a faculty member. Teaching Assistantships (TA)  - The typical first appointment for a beginning graduate student is a Teaching Assistantship. A teaching assistantship is both a teaching position and a means of support for graduate study. It is normally advantageous for a graduate student to hold a teaching assistantship for at least a semester during graduate studies, since the teaching activity solidifies and deepens the teaching assistant's undergraduate education in physics and also helps prepare for a possible career in teaching.

Teaching Assistant - Teaching assistants (TA) are graduate students who have direct student contact in a formal instructional setting but who do not have primary responsibility for teaching a course for credit; they perform under the instructor's direct supervision and provide general assistance to the instructional process. Teaching assistants may not be listed as instructor of record though they may lecture.

Teaching Assistantship Positions in France  - The French Ministry of Education is offering 1,500 Teaching Assistantship Positions in French Primary and Secondary Schools to American citizens, between 20 and 30 years of age who are pursuing or have pursued a college degree and have a proficiency in French. Note: students without a major in French but with basic language proficiency can also apply.

Teaching Assistantships  - Most math grad students are supported as Teaching Assistants. A first-year Teaching Assistant usually spends five hours per week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) conducting quiz sections for calculus or pre-calculus courses that meet with a faculty member on other days. Teaching Assistants also hold office hours and share in the grading of exams. The duties are not too heavy and are scheduled so as not to conflict with one's graduate study. New TAs are given extensive TA Training, and have many resources available throughout their appointment to help them improve their teaching skills. After the first year, there are a variety of assignments available to TAs, including.

Graduate Teaching Assistantships in Environmental Studies  - Teaching Assistantships provide field teaching opportunities and course work leading to a Master of Arts degree in Environmental Studies, with a concentration in Environmental Education, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or Environmental Health. Assistantships are for one academic year (from September 1st to June 30th) and may be renewed for a second year at the discretion of the Environmental Education Graduate Advisor and the Dean of the Graduate School. Duties include teaching small groups of students (primarily elementary and middle grades) and their teachers environment-related courses in four curriculum areas: environmental sciences, social sciences, humanities, and outdoor pursuits. Evening and weekend assignments may also be required. Teaching Assistants work closely with faculty of the NJSOC to develop the teaching techniques needed to foster the development of an environmentally responsible ethic and ecological literacy. Assistantships include a tuition and fee waiver for courses required for graduation, room and board at the NJSOC, and a monthly stipend of $500.

Graduate Teaching Assistantships  - The School of Music offers two sizes of graduate teaching assistantships. A .50 assistantship carries a stipend of approximately $8100 per annum. A .25 assistantship carries a stipend half as much. Tuition is waived for holders of .50 awards, halved for holders of .25 awards. Usually, .50 assistantships are reserved for students enrolled in the D.M.A. program.

BAAS Teaching Assistantships - Applications are invited for the BAAS Teaching Assistantship in American History at the University of New Hampshire and the BAAS Teaching Assistantship in American Literature at the University of Virginia. Candidates will normally be final year undergraduates, but applications will also be accepted from recent graduates.

M.A. and M.F.A. Teaching Assistantships -Teaching assistants are assigned to up to three three-hour undergraduate composition courses per year, a commitment of approximately twenty to twenty-five clock hours per week. Teaching responsibilities include attendance at all in-service colloquia prescribed for the assistant's course assignments, as well as consultation required by course coordinators and the University Writing Program.

The Teaching Assistantship - A part of graduate training of an ever-increasing number of students is the teaching assistantship. For some it is viewed as simply a way to get financial support; for others it is just a job, one which takes them away from their "real" studies; for others it is the first try at what might be their future careers. The skills involved in teaching are generalizable to just about every other position of responsibility to which you might aspire.

Teaching Assistantships - Many academic units make teaching assistantships available to outstanding graduate students. In these appointments, students serve as teaching assistants, teaching associates, readers, or tutors. Appointments are for a maximum of half-time service (20 hours/week) and require registration as a full-time student. The duration and extent of such appointments vary by academic unit.
